Bitcoin Mining Difficulty Adjusts Above 10 Trillion

The difficulty of mining on the Bitcoin network rose to above 10 trillion for the first time ever on the 18th of August. The latest adjustment at block height 590,688 resulted in the difficulty level increasing to 10.18 trillion, a 1.98% increase from the last difficulty level at 9.99 trillion. The average block time at the last difficulty level was 9 minutes and 49 seconds. The hash rate deployed on the Bitcoin network hit all-time highs at the last difficulty level while estimates of how much energy the Bitcoin network is consuming also reached record levels.
