In Jiangsu Province in Zhenjiang, 22 individuals have been arrested for stealing electricity from a local power company to power their cryptocurrency mining operations. The individuals set up mining hardware in nine factories they had rented and one of the suspects reported they used power theft devices to steal the electricity. The individuals used approximately 25 KWh to 50 KWh daily with the total amount stolen valued at approximately $2.9 million.
