After recent turbulent conditions for cryptocurrency mining in Iran, it is reported that the government’s economic commission has legalised the activity. However, the electricity rates miners will be able to access remains uncertain. Iran became an attractive option for miners with subsidized electricity rates as low as half a cent per KWh. The Iranian deputy energy minister noted that government officials will vote on an electricity rate for cryptocurrency mining. This minister previously publicly stated that miners should not be able to access the subsidized rates.
