Iranian Deputy Energy Minister States Cryptocurrency Miners Need to Pay Electricity Rates in Real Prices

The deputy energy minister of Iran, Homayoun Haeri, stated that the electricity bills for cryptocurrency miners should be stated in real prices. Reports show that the Iranian government pay close to $1 billion in subsidies reducing the cost of the final bill sent to electricity users in the country. Iran has become a more popular location for cryptocurrency miners recently amid more stringent stances from regulators in other jurisdictions.
