The Litecoin halving is scheduled to take place in 3 days on the 5th of August. The halving is coded into the protocol to take place at block height 1,680,000 and will result in the block subsidy miners receive for appending blocks dropping from 25 litecoin to 12.5 litecoin. It is uncertain how the halving event will impact Litecoin miners revenue. There have been positive signs in Bitcoin that fees paid by users rise to compensate for the decreased block subsidy. Whether a similar phenomenon will take place in altcoins remains to be seen.
