The Russian state of Duma may impose penalties on cryptocurrency miners. The chairman of the state’s financial markets committee noted that operations related to cryptocurrency are outside the bounds of Russian law. This relates to mining, producing, circulating, and exchanging cryptocurrencies. It was noted that owning cryptocurrencies was still possible if the cryptocurrencies are acquired on foreign exchanges and in compliance with foreign law.
