A heavy and prolonged rainstorm in China’s Sichuan province has resulted in land and mudslides occurring. There have been several reports of Bitcoin mining operations being forced to shut down as a result. Data from blockchain.com shows the hash rate dropping below 70 EH/s when reports of the mudslides started appearing on social media. The data currently shows hash rate recovering to above 80 EH/s. Research from CoinShares estimates that 50% of Bitcoin mining activity globally takes place in Sichuan.
